Be warned, the rental company already charged for insurance through the booking platform, but at the store, they will add a super expensive insurance without asking, which is way more costly than the rental fee. This is a deceptive tactic.
Additionally, the documents are mostly in Spanish, making it hard to understand. You might think you have fully paid, but that’s not the case.

I clearly stated on my phone that I did not want any additional services, but I was unknowingly charged for insurance. This is outrageous and unacceptable! My friend rented a car from another company, Europcar, and also faced pressure to buy insurance. She asked me to translate her refusal, and although the representative was not pleased, they did not charge her for insurance. Hertz’s behavior is infuriating and disgusting! The female staff member clearly nodded and understood my request for no insurance, but the final bill still included over 300 euros for insurance.
Our group of four booked a Touran seven-seater online, which was supposed to accommodate four large suitcases. The site showed that the car had seven seats, and the last two seats could be folded down to make more trunk space, which we believed would fit our four suitcases based on past experiences.
However, Europcar only provided a Renault five-seater, claiming it could hold four suitcases. When we picked up the car, the staff saw the size of our luggage and we confirmed multiple times if it could fit four suitcases, but the trunk could not accommodate them.
We went back to inquire, and they said our booking only included space for four hand luggage items, and that the Renault was in the same class as the car we booked. They suggested switching to a nine-seater Vito, which indeed could fit our luggage and was easier to drive, but this came with an additional fee of 340 euros per day, later reduced to 120 euros per day. We reluctantly accepted and switched to the Vito. After driving for half an hour, we realized the Vito was too large and hard to control, had no rearview camera or sensors, so we returned to request a seven-seater. We ended up with a five-seater Touran instead, which could barely fit our luggage and had no rearview display or sensors. The 120 euro daily fee was not refunded.
When we returned the car on April 6, there was a fuel charge of 78 euros, claiming we didn't return the Vito with a full tank. We contested this as the staff didn't inform us about a full-to-full policy, and it was unreasonable to charge 78 euros for a one-hour drive. We drove the Touran for five days and over 1000 km, and refilling the tank near the airport cost only 45 euros. I have requested follow-up from the rental staff, and am very dissatisfied with Europcar.

The staff were highly unprofessional and unclear about the contract details. They couldn't explain whether insurance was included. They aggressively pushed for an upgrade, and after I refused, they ignored my reasonable requests, causing a huge loss. They blamed the agency, saying the contract couldn't be modified because the order was placed through the agency. So the car could be upgraded but not the mileage limit?
I placed my car rental order at least two months in advance, yet I had to wait over an hour to complete the paperwork and our chosen model wasn't available. Despite booking so early, they switched our car and made us wait so long. I have no idea what you guys are doing.
At the airport counter in Spain, a lady was very cold. I consider myself good at English with strong comprehension skills, but when I told her I wouldn't buy extra insurance, she completely changed her attitude and ignored everything I said. In the end, another male colleague took over, he was very nice and clearly listed all the costs. However, we still had to pay extra for insurance and other charges, totaling over 100 euros, which is more than double the rental fee!
Arrived around ten minutes early, the reception staff were very polite in confirming the order.
However, their attitude changed drastically when I declined to purchase additional insurance from the car rental company,
and they asked me to wait until the scheduled time to process the deal.
The order clearly stated that no additional fees were required,
but I was still charged an extra 30.23 euros as airport tax.
I rented a Fiat 500, but they gave me a Fiesta instead. Also, the deposit was supposed to be 1100 euros, but for some reason, they charged me 1224 euros.
