PEMEX is the dominant fuel chain throughout the Yucatan, with stations plentiful along major highways and in cities. Fuel is dispensed by attendants, so simply pull in and specify "lleno de Magna" if you want a full tank. Never accept unofficial fuel from roadside vendors — fuel adulteration is a known issue outside official PEMEX stations.

Several Mexican-specific rules catch unfamiliar drivers out. Firstly, at intersections without signals, vehicles already in the roundabout always have priority — entering traffic must yield. Secondly, treated as a "rolling stop" at stop signs is common and generally tolerated, though UK tourists should resist adapting to this local habit.
