Labor is expensive in the US. There's staff at the car rental registration, and the rental agency has many counters. You can handle the process as soon as you arrive. Booked a Toyota RAV4, but got a very new Hyundai Tucson with only 29,000 km! Quite satisfied.

The staff tried to upsell other models and added extra insurance without informing us. The tablet screen was very small, making it difficult to understand the specialized terms in the English contract. The staff did not inform us of the additional insurance costs and kept urging us to sign. This resulted in us being overcharged more than 600 dollars for insurance. There was a huge line at the store, and I had to wait almost an hour to get the car. The attendant tried to get me to upgrade, but I refused. When returning the car, I didn't have time to refuel, and they told me I had to pay USD10 per gallon. Faced with the risk of missing my flight, I agreed, but then I was charged USD161 for 9 gallons.
