Vehicles rented in the United States can be driven into Canada, with the exception of 12 or 15 passenger vans,cargo van，luxury cars but must be returned to the United States unless Renter has pre-arranged with Provider to drop the vehicle off at one of Provider’s approved locations in Canada whereby a transborder fee may apply.     The service at Alamo was terrible. They immediately tried to sell me additional services. When I declined their suggestions, they deliberately wasted time and were very inefficient. Renting a RAV4 was not cheap (compared to a Grand Cherokee), but they didn't have that car. I could only choose between an older model Small Cherokee and an outdated KIA. Very disappointing!

    This was a terrible rental experience. 1. When picking up the car, the customer service insisted on a credit card. The system showed both my ICBC Mastercard from China and my U.S. VISA card as debit cards. However, I have used these cards at other rental companies, even at ALAMO, without any issues. 2. They required a flight number to the destination. I work and study at the destination, so I don't have a flight number. Even showing my work ID didn't help. We argued back and forth over these two issues, wasting a lot of effort and time.

    Took the AirTrain to the car rental area at JFK Airport, which was easy to find since all rental companies are located there. Alamo and National share the same office, but Alamo's signs are less noticeable. Arrived at JFK Airport at 8:30 PM local time and there was no line at the rental counter. Booked a Chrysler 200 but received a Toyota Camry. The car had about 20,000 km on it but was in good condition overall. Drove 2,400 km over 6 days without any issues. The elderly African American gentleman at the store did some upselling, mainly for vehicle upgrades and roadside assistance.

    The vehicle was good. I booked a Hyundai Santa Fe but received a comparable Chevrolet with less than 4000 miles on it. The Alamo in New York is not very large, just a single counter. You can pick up the car by yourself. The staff might try to upsell a bit but it's not very forceful. Overall, the impression was good.
