Driver's License Requirements

The main driver and any additional drivers will need to provide a physical full driving license in their name with no major endorsements. The license should be held for at least 1-2 year(s).

For foreign renters, you need to bring:

Original driving licence + International Driving Permit (IDP)

Please note that an International Driving Permit(IDP) is only a translation.You must present your original driving licence with the original IDP at the counter.

For local renters, you need to bring:

Full Driving License issued in Chile

Argentina
If you plan to drive to Argentina,Please submit following ducuments 7days before scheduled pickup date for applying a cross-border permit: 1.A copy of your passport 2.A copy of your valid driver's license 3.The number and expiration date of your credit card Our cross-border permits we offer are pay on arrival with credit cards and cost: (06 - 15) days car rental and enter (multiple) to Argentina USD 116. Europcar Chile has updated its cross-border permit conditions as follows: 1.When picking up your car at the station, a hold of USD 2000 will be placed on your credit card. 2.An additional USD 750 will be blocked for the guarantee of your car. 3.Failure to return the car to Chile will result in a USD 2000 charge. 4.It is mandatory to purchase our *Premium insurance for the entire rental period at a cost of USD 32 per day. Europcar Chile does not accept third-party or Rentalcars full insurance.

    The only complaint I have is that the tires were in just so and so condition and we ended up with a flat tire. Luckily it was close to the airport as there are no gas stations by the airport. The closest gas station is 1 hr away in Coyhaigue or 3.5 hrs in Puerto Rio Tranquilo. Europcar was excellent and covered the cost of the tire no questions asked.

    Very good car and service from Europcar Balmaceda, friendly staff at the pickup counter in the airport terminal, staff also spoke little english wich was very helpful due to our limited spanish skills.

    Europcar have a useful, private car park at Balmaceda airport so that you can avoid paying parking charges. The car we rented was in good shape and did the job we wanted very well. The only issue they have is that the lines for picking up or returning cars can get a bit long when a flight has just arrived or is shortly to depart so give yourself plenty of time to complete these procedures.
