No one came to deliver the car as promised. When I called, they said there were no cars available and canceled the booking! I ended up waiting at the airport for three hours and had to rent a car from another company at a high price on the airport counter at the last minute. Extremely unreliable, very disappointed!
An excellent car rental company. After we returned the car, they helped us contact the owner of our rented apartment and even warmly drove us there. We are truly grateful and highly recommend them.
CARHIRE does not have its own reception; I forgot which rental company is acting as its agent. The vehicle condition is relatively old. They are the only company that rents cars to people with domestic licenses, which is quite unusual. Locals drive recklessly, frequently changing lanes and turning without signals, so it takes some time to get used to it. The road conditions are poor, and the city is very congested.
Checked some car rental guides for Baku beforehand, not many available, was a bit worried. However, contacting the rental company via WhatsApp was very smooth, and picking up and dropping off the car was convenient. We drove long distances from Baku, and the highways were easy to navigate. If you're only staying within the city, there's really no need to rent a car. Driving to Shahdag was very convenient!
The car rental company randomly charged fines when returning the car and did not provide a receipt. The platform asked the company, but they denied the charges. The experience was very poor, not recommended.
There is no storefront, everything is handled over the phone. I called five times with no answer. Even though I gave my flight details, there was no one holding a sign to wait for me. After waiting for 20 minutes at the airport, they finally showed up. I rented a Lada Niva for the driving experience, but they said Ladas are for poor people. They upgraded me to an automatic Renault... Thanks a lot... I had to pay an extra 100 AZN for full insurance on the spot. They also asked if we needed a SIM card and currency exchange. We said yes, and they drove us to a small store at a faraway gas station where the exchange rate for dollars was 1.68. The SIM card price was four times what it costs in city stores! In all previous Europcar rentals, they provided a car charger including a phone holder if you asked. This company made us buy it directly at the store they recommended at domestic prices multiplied by the exchange rate. Overall, a very disappointing and time-wasting experience!
On July 10, 2024, I was charged 79 Azeri Manat without explanation. Rentalcars.com emailed the company but got no response, so Rentalcars.com reimbursed me directly. Awesome! Additionally, I do not recommend self-driving in Azerbaijan; cancel your plans if you have any, it's not worth it. Strong recommendation for Georgia and Armenia instead.
