Very difficult to contact directly. We needed a car replacement due to an accident but had to deal with the road side assistant. Budget does not deal with it. We had to wait for 6.5 hours for a vehicle replacement
The wait time at the rental point was too long. However, when it was my turn to complete the paperwork, the process was quite smooth. Although they tried to upsell insurance, they didn't hassle me when I declined, unlike other rental companies where rejecting their insurance leads to intentional delays in processing.
There was a 3 cm cut on the side of the tire, though it wasn't fully punctured. The car had no spare tire. Despite having purchased roadside assistance, no one came to help, and many of the phone numbers were invalid. Frustrated, I had to risk driving over 20 kilometers to get a replacement car, wasting half a day.
The car was great, easy on fuel and lots of space. So glad we picked a blue vehicle because it was easy to spot when we were out and about!
Counter person we dealt with at Thrifty was pushy with extra insurance that we didn't need. He was very abrupt and talked really fast. Don't appreciate that type of pressure or dismissive attitude when we politely declined.

Even though we had a pre booked car, we had to go and "choose" one ourselves but there were none to choose from and had to take the next wet car that was available so we were not able to "choose" our car. The car was an older model and had many scratches and dents that we needed to check over and make sure that we marked them all before leaving the lot. This was difficult as the car was wet and not in full sun shine. The pick up agent convinced us that we pre purchased the full tank of gas by telling us that there was only one gas station nearby and it was often VERY busy. We fell for this and discovered later that there were several gas stations to choose from and we could have filled the tank with ease before returning the car. We had travel insurance to cover our excess and any unforeseen issues but the pick up agent made us feel uncomfortable about not taking out extra insurance.

overall not a bad experience. However, we had cockroaches in our car! It was loaded with insects. Had to call CS and replace the car. CS has not instructed us properly and we had to wait in pick up line again. Super inconvenient! Apparently this is very common for Maui, as they were not surprised at all.
Second vehicle was clean and better in general as it was brand new. Greatly appreciated manager’s help who was in charge on June 28 closing time.
There should be some sort of a bag inspection after each drop-off.
Please take into consideration as this might affect your business as well.

It was 3am by the time we arrived and JARED made us feel very stupid. We went straight to the Payless counter which was not manned. JARED told us about needing to go through the line but there was not anyone in line to need to go through the maze so he made it sound like he was doing us a favor to come on over to the BUDGET counter where he could help us. He was rude, did not care at all about us and I personally just think he hated his job. He could NOT explain why the fee was more than the voucher I had from EasyRentCars.com. He challenged me on not wanting insurance and kept trying up sale us the whole time we were there for our rental. I am writing a letter to Payless about Jared so no worries there. It is just sad to be so tired and excited about being in Maui and have someone be so awful to you! He never said welcome to Maui or thank you for using Payless or anything. He was SO BAD! Our car was horrible but to be honest, for the price we paid, we did not care about all the dings and scary noises the car made. It served its purpose for what we needed it for. Jared on the other hand needs to get another job and get happy. So sad
