The pick-up point was supposed to be Santorini Port, but the rental company wasn’t there. We had to ask a local to call, and found out the rental company was at the airport. Fortunately, the owner drove to the port to pick us up, but we waited about half an hour.
The vehicle was not the model we reserved, and similar models are never as good as you expect. After coming out of the airport, someone was holding a sign to pick you up. You follow them for a short walk to their rental location. It's quite convenient.
This company is absolutely awful. There was no one to pick us up, the location shown on the app was incorrect, we found it on our own, and the staff only accepted international driving licenses. We couldn't get the car. Eventually, we rented a car from another company at the airport with our Chinese driving license.
We arrived at the store at 21:30 local time. The booked model was a BMW X1. However, they didn't have this model available. They didn't have any SUVs either. They offered me a Skoda Rapid, a compact car, and said there were no other options. They even said if I didn't want it, I could leave, as they were closing at 22:00. I paid over 2700 for a car that normally costs a little over 200 per day. We needed the car for 3 days for business purposes, and it had to be presentable, but this affected our business. Additionally, the fuel tank wasn't even full.
This car rental company is terrible. First, it is very far from the airport and is a very small company. The service attitude is bad, and they discriminate against Chinese people. They refused to release the car because my credit card has the UnionPay logo, and they didn't refund any of the rental fees. It's a total rip-off.
The rental company did not inform us that the car pickup involved a local staff member shuttling us from the airport. We spent a long time looking for the pickup point only to discover that the staff member had just left with another group. The elderly lady at the counter couldn't recognize our car rental documentation and refused to give us the car. After much difficulty, she finally allowed us to ask a younger staff member. The younger staff member recognized the rental documents and notarized translation but informed us that our magnetic stripe credit card couldn't be used to freeze the deposit, only for purchases. In the end, despite having already purchased full insurance from the rental company, we had to buy their €90 insurance and pay a €200 cash deposit. The rental car had a strong smell of cigarettes and was not new.
The store is not at the airport, requiring a shuttle for both pickup and dropoff. They insisted on selling a €150 full insurance. The provided car was different from what was booked. The car's tire pressure was low and the brakes were unresponsive. The warning light was on the entire trip, making the journey nerve-wracking.
Like: Very helpful staff. A little confusing at the airport pickup as they have no booth at the terminal but the van arrived shortly after we exited the terminal.
