Pick-up Instructions

The Apex - Hobart Airport car hire location is located out of the airport

Please contact the staff to pick you up to Apex - Hobart Airport car hire when you arrived.

1.After collecting your luggage, please phone our office toll-free on 1800 273 922 (or +613 6248 4958) for a shuttle pick up. 2.Walk out the Exit of the main Airport building towards the shuttle bus holding bay. 3.Wait here for the Apex shuttle van. 4.Please Note: The Apex office does not have toilet facilities.

Drop-off Instructions

Vehicle needs to be returned to our depot located at Unit C3 66 Kennedy Drive Cambridge, TAS 7170.Look for the Apex signage outside the side road. The entrance is down that road, between the two large buildings.

    Like: Service by attendants was top notch, car functioned well and managed Tasmania's gravel roads well. Everything went smoothly, got a quick car wash at the end because car sides were covered in mud, but no extra charges!

    The car wasn't great but for the money we spent wasn't bad either. I'd say average. The biggest let-down was the condition of the tyres. Something that is a crucial safety aspect should be checked by local staff before/after each rental. We left the premises and very shortly thereafter we noticed the tyre going soft, not completely flat but soft. When we reached the tyre specialist only then we realized we escaped a potential serious accident as the canvas of the reach tyre was broken. A large crack in the tyre went about one third across the tyre including the rim. The guy at the service center said we were lucky as on the windy roads at 100km/h this could have ended quite bad. The guy further mentioned that for something like this to happen we would have to have hit something major or have hit a major pothole, which we didn't as the tyre went soft more or less immediately after we picked it up. We should have made the choice to go back to the rental spot however we were sort of on the point of no return between pickup and our destination hence we decide to continue to our destination and closest tyre service center. So here is some feedback for APEX, check your cars because this sort of defects are unacceptable.

    Counter staff were excellent! One issue. The car was displayed as pickup at Hobart Airport but when I locked it in I saw on the paperwork that in fact the pickup was not at the Airport but that we had to phone to get get picked up to be taken to Cambridge to get the car. This one might consider false advertising.

    The car was an MG HS model, which is not similar the a Mitsubishi Outlander. It was the worst car I've ever driven. It was lacking in power and the gearbox was poorly mated to the engine, causing it to continuously hunt through the gears. The centre screen occasionally rebooted while driving and was also slow to load. The foot pedals were positioned too far to the left making it actually a little dangerous to drive. Was not happy with this vehicle. Also the photos that Apex supplied of the vehicle condition were of a poor standard. Many existing dints were not visible. Had to upload my own.

    The staff were friendly and helpful. However, the car had some issues. There was trash in the drawer inside the car, and the car's performance was quite old. It required full throttle to accelerate, and one of the doors couldn't be opened from the inside. On the second day of rental, we had a flat tire. After replacing the car at the rental company's office, the new car did not have a reverse display screen like the original one.

    Apex, a budget brand under AVIS, offered excellent value. The car was in good condition with nearly 30,000 kilometers on it. I drove around 1,600 kilometers in Tasmania, including Wellington Mountain, Bruny Island, Stanley in the north, and Wineglass Bay in the east. There was no mileage restriction, and the best part was that they provided child seats for free.
