We agreed to be picked up at 7:30 am at Terminal 3 of the airport with a sign, but we didn’t see anyone from the rental company. We only got picked up at 9 am after contacting the booking platform. We purchased unlimited mileage, confirmed by the platform at $10 per day, but it turned out to be $15 per day at the rental counter. Although we had no accidents or damage throughout the trip, during car return, they claimed there was a mark at the bottom corner of the car door, which was hard to notice, and charged us $200. We felt it was intentional extortion.
The overall experience was great. I'm a longtime AVIS customer. Be aware that Egypt enforces strict speeding regulations, and AVIS's administration fees for fines are quite high. Fellow drivers, please take note.

This was the worst car rental experience I've ever had. I booked online, but when picking up the car on-site, they gave me one with over 80,000 kilometers on it. Upgrading to full insurance cost $200, $180, or $150, and we finally settled on the previously quoted $108 (probably trying to rip off as many people as they can). While driving, a tire blew out, so we replaced it with the spare and called the company to inform them. When returning the car, two employees spent a long time inspecting the tire, claiming it needed to be sent to a repair shop to check if it could be fixed. If repairable, we'd pay the repair cost; if not, we'd have to pay $100. We thought the outcome would surely be up to them anyway. Sure enough, after a long wait, they told us we had to pay $100. Moreover, this amount couldn't be deducted from the $200 deposit but had to be paid as an additional fee.
Both the pickup and drop-off processes were very smooth. The staff was quite friendly and didn't try to create any trouble. However, the car was very old. Even though it had only 70,000 kilometers, it felt like it was falling apart. That said, cars on Egyptian roads are generally in poor condition, so ours might have actually been decent in comparison.
Despite providing flight details and arrival time, the car was delivered more than two hours late. There is no storefront at the airport, and both pickup and return are done in the parking lot. A $10 cleaning fee was charged during return. On the positive side, the car was a new one with only 3,000 kilometers, and the service was acceptable.
