Overall, the experience was quite good. The best part was finding a almost new Touareg among the mid-size SUVs at the Oakland airport pickup location. There was a small issue when checking out the car: we showed our own insurance in advance, but the staff still added their insurance to our receipt. My husband didn't notice and signed it, but I caught it just in time. The employee probably wasn't paying enough attention.

This car rental experience in Oakland was very unpleasant. First, my driver's license was questioned. They didn't accept electronic versions of translated documents (only printed ones were allowed), and the rental office couldn't assist with printing. They didn't accept my explanations or make any exceptions. It wasn't until an hour later that a Chinese staff member at the counter showed sympathy and understanding, and I was able to complete the process. During this time, other staff mentioned that many European and American customers don't provide a driver's license at all and can pick up the car without issue, which clearly shows a bias and discrimination against Chinese people. Additionally, there was no gas station near the rental site, the nearest one was a mile away, which was inconvenient.

We booked a luxury SUV (GMC) 20 days in advance and paid in full. When we arrived at the store, there was no arrangement for this vehicle. All 7 of us were forced into a Nissan 7-seater with no space for luggage, so we had to hold our luggage on our laps back to the hotel. They promised a car exchange the next day, took our US and China phone numbers and the hotel address, but no one contacted us. Strongly not recommended if you don't want to experience this helplessness at night. Complaint in progress!!!
