Complaint: 1. Dollar insisted on denying the original car model and pushed a larger model, charging $526.17 plus 1131 RMB for a three-day rental. Extremely expensive!!! 2. The Dollar staff didn't fill out any information on the rental form nor asked me to fill it out myself, leaving the form blank and causing issues during complaints. No way to verify the rental details.
On March 3, I booked a mid-size car from Dollar through your 'Zuzuche' company and paid 1131 RMB for three days. However, upon arrival at Atlanta Airport at around 3 PM on March 29 to complete the rental, a female staff member insisted that the mid-size car was not big enough and recommended a larger car. I showed her my reservation, but she refused my choice. Due to my limited language skills and lack of phone signal, I couldn't contact 'Zuzuche'. After much negotiation, she still wouldn't let me use the reserved car. As it was getting late and I needed to reach Roma, about two hours from the airport, before dark, I reluctantly accepted her recommendation. The document I signed listed charges of 408, 20.97, 20.97, 269.97, 17.97, and 33 dollars. It seemed unbelievably expensive for a three-day rental! I had no time to research the details as I needed to hurry to my destination before dark. Very nervous about traveling at night. If I didn't take the car, I couldn't leave the airport. Very frustrating.
On April 1, I filled the tank before returning the car at around 7 AM. It took 1 hour and 40 minutes to drive from Roma, north of Atlanta, to the airport, using one fuel gauge bar. I was charged additional fuel fees upon return but wasn't sure how much. Please help to verify. The total cost charged was $526.17, plus the 1131 RMB paid earlier, totaling about 4639 RMB for 2.5 days. How could it be so expensive? Is it because we're foreigners and struggle with language? Were we scammed? Please help to appeal this issue.
My rental order details are in the emails below.
Like: Good, new, low mileage vehicle Dislike: Being offered upsell when a larger vehicle was to be offered anyway.
Check out assistant added on an unwanted Sat Nav Device charge when exiting the car park. Only noticed this on my credit card statement during the holiday. Had the charge removed promptly on returning the car.
The car pickup was supposed to be at the Atlanta World of Coca-Cola, but the actual location turned out to be at a hotel in the city. After circling around trying to find the rental point based on the GPS directions, I had to call for assistance. The service representative, who had a very pleasant voice, informed me that the pickup was at the hotel's first floor. After checking my reservation, driver's license, and the rental company's translation document, she printed out the order and told me I needed to pay $300. I asked if I could pay by card, and she agreed without any hesitation. She didn't try to sell me any additional insurance. Since it was my first time driving abroad, she patiently walked me through the exterior check of the car. Concerned about the oil levels, I asked her to open the hood, and she did, confirming that everything was in perfect condition. We then moved to the interior, and she answered all my questions patiently. Overall, she was very nice.
It took almost an hour and a half to get the car. I paid for a full tank of gas, but the car had only a quarter tank. They only filled it up after I raised the issue.
Picked up the car in Atlanta, wanted to rent a toll pass device but was told none available. Received a toll charge of $3.10 plus a service fee of $24.75 after returning to my country, which was frustrating. I had inquired about renting an electronic toll device, but Hertz couldn't provide one, and eventually, I was charged a service fee. What sense does that make??? Additionally, in Pittsburgh, I noticed the power steering warning light was on. To save time, I went to the airport early in the morning to swap the car and encountered a very impatient staff member. The replacement car was a downgrade, and they claimed the original car from Atlanta was of a higher class. To get the same class, I had to pay extra. Not only was time wasted, but it also dampened my mood. Overall, this car rental experience was unsatisfactory!!!
There were a lot of people picking up cars at the time, so the wait time was quite long. The service attitude was fairly good. The staff gave a detailed introduction to the vehicle's features during pickup.
There were hidden insurance fees; additional insurance was added when I picked up the car. Not sure if this is required by Georgia. Also, the Ford I wanted was locked, so I could only choose from Japanese models.
Since the car exchange is done at the airport, it's convenient for those flying in, but not so much for those already at the airport. We found the Alamo company based on the signs, only to be told it was just a drop-off point, and the pickup point was elsewhere. We couldn't find the way to the pickup point, so we first returned the car at the Sixt company and then took the escalator to the pickup point. Since we had a lot of luggage, we borrowed a cart from the Alamo company. I have to say, their service was quite good. Maybe there aren't many people who come by car to rent a car like us, so we wasted a lot of time at the airport.
No Chinese service provided, fuel rules not clearly explained, and directly asked to pay for a full tank of gas. Since our English is not good, we had already paid with a credit card. Fortunately, our American friend came and explained that we should return the car with a full tank to avoid unnecessary expenses.
