Needed to add CHF35 for secure free road-call from France. It was no expected in other car rentals also in Geneva and the car is to France

The rear window of our rental car was smashed in Rome. We wanted to exchange the car in Rome, but the contact number provided by Alamo was not answered at all. We went directly to their airport rental location, but their staff said they couldn't handle this issue and told us to keep calling the number, leaving us hanging. We visited two airport rental locations, both with the same response. In the end, the problem remained unsolved, and we had to drive back to Geneva to return the car.

The female service agent's English accent was very hard to understand. The pickup location was a bit far from the counter and the road was under construction, making it one-way. However, the car pickup was overall smooth. Returning the car in Hamburg was very easy; just follow the airport signs. The drop-off location is a centralized outsourced area. The staff checked the car thoroughly and printed the receipt quickly since the car had no damage.

I specifically asked for skoda octavia because of trunk space. When i got to the lot they gave me volvo v60 which didnt have enough trunk space. They insisted it has more than the octavia. It took a back and forth until i spotted an octavia available 1 HOUR later. They didn’t want to let me see the trunk space even just to compare. In the end they told me if i want to change cars, i can only take a bet on the octavia and change once, which i did and didnt regret. The counter and lot staffs at the geneva airport were completely unhelpful and useless. They chat and smoked all day. We spent 2 hours trying to get the skoda and trying to fit our luggages in the volvo that they originally gave us! These crazy people didnt adjust the return time so we basically lost 2 hrs of rental time. The baby seat is so bulky and was uncomfortable! They dont have good selections. The return location in Lugano airport was so hard to find. The counter staff was very half hearted helping us find the lot location. Europcar has very poor service.

The vw touran was ideal for 5 adults! It really is an excellent car, fully equipped and brand new.

Booking was easy

The car had quite a few scratches, and we photographed them before we left as we thought we might get charged for them. There was no problem at drop off, and the chap told us the car was reaching the end of its useful life.
