1. The Amman pickup store had relocated without any notice. Luckily, the taxi driver was helpful and continuously asked around, eventually guiding us to the correct location. 2. The reserved Duster, despite having only 60,000 kilometers on it, was in poor condition. It wouldn't start initially and needed a new battery to ignite. The left rearview mirror was broken and couldn't be adjusted, the horn didn't work, the radio was unusable, and the cigarette lighter socket stopped working after a while. The car's interior was dirty and lacked complete accessories. 3. The store initially intended to replace it with a Toyota Corolla at the same price. 4. The drop-off location in Aqaba was incorrectly marked, showing it in the city center instead of near the border. Fortunately, we asked the hotel owner in advance. 5. The provided phone numbers were unreachable. However, the staff were friendly, spoke good English, and there were no extra charges. Overall, the service and vehicle quality were very different from Avis in other countries.
Firstly, the car pickup location in Amman was different from the one listed on the rental website. Additionally, the email from the car rental company provided a new address, but upon arrival, we couldn't find it as the rental office had moved roughly 500 meters from the original address. Annoyingly, no one answered the phone at the office. We had to find it ourselves, wandering around for quite some time and eventually asking locals for directions. The car pickup process was not smooth either. The fuel tank was empty with the warning light on, and when we asked the staff, they said we had to fill it up ourselves. There was no contract stipulating a full tank at pickup. When we contacted rental customer service, they could only advise us to communicate with the staff, so we had to fill up the tank ourselves. The car was very old and had numerous marks noted on the inspection report. There were no onboard tools or emergency markers, and they had to take them from another car. The car return location was different from the one on the website, and we had to ask a nearby Hertz car rental office for directions. Since the car was not picked up with a full tank, we returned it with less than half a tank, costing us at least 150 yuan in fuel money, which the rental company wouldn't reimburse.
I need to point out that when I picked up the car, it only had one bar of fuel, but when I returned it, the tank was half full. This is obviously unfair, Avis should ensure the car is fully fueled when renting it out.
