They kept trying to sell their own comprehensive insurance, and the super insurance bought domestically was not recognized locally. They were very unwilling if you didn't purchase theirs. They showed attitude and made us wait, attending to others first. In the end, they forcibly charged a $1800 deposit, otherwise they wouldn't give us the car. The whole process from paperwork to car pickup took two hours!
They withheld the deposit and only returned it over a month later. Even then, it wasn't fully refunded—they deducted 500 MAD, calling it a damage management fee. We had purchased full insurance when placing the order, but at the store, they said it didn't cover everything and asked for an additional 1000 RMB for full coverage. And then they charged a management fee on top of that. Such a rip-off.
The service provided by Hertz was terrible; the staff we encountered were all scammers. They used various excuses to prevent us from using our original reservation and forced us to pay higher fees. They gave us a faulty car, which explains why many Chinese travelers often report tire issues while driving in Morocco. This is clearly intentional on the part of the staff, so no matter how careful you are, you will fall into their prearranged traps.
