AVIS is not a major company in Europe. Their instructions were either non-existent or very unclear. This was our third time picking up a car, and it was the most difficult one. Picking up and returning the car was extremely challenging!!! We picked up the car at Paris Montparnasse train station. The instructions given by the store staff were so unclear that we spent over an hour dragging our luggage up and down three levels of the train station and still couldn't find the pick-up point. We asked many people, including the train station staff and staff from other car rental companies, and none of them knew how to read Avis's directions. We went back to the Avis store, but the staff didn't accompany us. Instead, they just tried to explain using the same unclear map. When they saw we didn't understand, they just shrugged and moved on to the next customer, leaving us stranded. Eventually, another customer offered to guide us to the pick-up point. The pick-up point was so hidden that first-timers wouldn't have found it. There were no signs, and we had to go through a small door, up a zigzag staircase, across a footbridge, and take an elevator to another parking lot (not the train station's parking lot). Once we finally arrived, the staff were few and slow; it took almost another hour to get a Citroën that was about 80% new, and the fuel gauge dropped shortly after we started driving. Returning the car was equally tough. We were doing one-way rental and had to return the car at Tours train station. We searched for over an hour and couldn't find the drop-off point due to the lack of signs. Eventually, we went inside the train station to ask the staff, who gave us a password to access the parking lot. The drop-off point was again hidden, and when we finally found it, all six designated spots were taken. There were no staff around to assist, and we couldn't park randomly as there were no empty spaces. With only ten minutes left before our train departed (it takes five minutes to run to the train station dragging luggage), I was sweating profusely. Thankfully, I found a tiny gap between a car's nose and the wall in the Avis-designated area and was able to park vertically.
The store staff speak a little Chinese and the location is quite easy to find, just below the Ramada Hotel. After arriving in Antalya, it’s a bit of a distance from the bus station. Since we did not trust taxis much, we asked a passerby at the bus station. A kind man from the metro company gave us a free shuttle ride nearby. When we arrived, it was just their opening time so we completed the procedure quickly without any crowd. However, we arrived an hour earlier than our reservation time, so the rental period was calculated as starting an hour earlier. Originally, we planned to rent for 4 days, but the rental agreement stated 4.1 days, which they rounded up to 5 days without informing us. On the last day, after returning the car, we went to the service desk at the return point and had a staff member adjust the rental based on the actual usage time. This resulted in a refund of 699 lira, about 1400 RMB. If we hadn’t noticed this, we would have paid significantly more unnecessarily. This is a reminder to carefully check rental agreements.
