The car was impounded and towed by the police. The rental company charged me €1100, and I did not receive any calls or messages. I have no idea how they charged such a large amount. Typically, even police fines are not directly collected by the rental company. I consulted my Spanish friends, and they confirmed that the police cannot issue fines to the rental company. So I suspect the rental company charged me arbitrarily, and the amount is huge and unreasonable. I am still waiting for a response from the Zuzuche platform!!!

The worst car rental experience I have ever had. An absurdly disorganized pick up that took close to an hour. Then the woman at the front desk insisted I pay a refuelling fee of €23, even though I said I would refill the tank before returning! She said, "if you don't like it, rent somewhere else". I will never deal with Goldcar again, I don't know how they are still in business.

I arrived earlier, but due to the volume of customers could not pick up a car. Even I put a note that early arrival is very possible I still had to wait for almost 3 hrs. To pick up a car 30 min before the booked time I had to take a bigger car and got charged more than I planned. Otherwise, it is a busy place and the staff did their job but I did not feel that they wanted to make an extra step to help. The windshield was dirty, the car itself was clean but it is a minor issue.

“The worst car hire experience I have ever had!”

Awful. I was really quite shocked by the service at Goldcar Malaga Airport. Firstly we could not find the pick up location it is not sign posted. After an hour of trying to find it in the terminal and asking we eventually found the car lot where the cars were and Goldcar staff but only tobe told the main counter was back in the terminal and we had to go there. We explained we had already been looking for an hour could they not help us and they said no. While this was happening 3 other couples approached with the same problem so clearly a signage problem and not just us. Once we did find the main counter I waited nearly another hour to be served. The staff member I spoke with was rude and aggressive. Honestly shocking manner and tone. Then her informing me of all these additional charges I wasn't aware of - no clear explanation of these charges either. She demanded I buy the additional insurance even when I told her I did not need it as I had my own. She told me it would be unlikely I would get my 1400 euro deposit back unless I took the insurance. I told her that was basically a threat to spend more money and that wasn't ok and I wouldn't purchase it. She then told me I had to or she wouldn't give me the car. Then she told me I had to pay about 90 euro for the fuel because the tank was full and they had filled it for me and then there was another 27 euro refilling service fee when I returned it. I explained that this has never been the case when hiring a car. It is always full when you pick up and you bring it back full. I said at best I would pay the 90 euro for the full tank even though this is above the average cost for a tank and I would refill it myself to save the 27 euro. She told me I could not do this as it was in the terms and conditions and that if I did not pay both these fees she would not give me the car. But I have now also just received by email a bill for 38 euros charge to refill the tank. What is going on here???? I feel lied to and extorted.

“Car we got was great once we got it. Rental staff extremely rude”

Waited ages to be served. Once serves we have a very rude lady. Wanted to charge me airport location tax dispute taxes being included in the chargw.. says it's not included as cheap rate and says in terms on goldcar website. Lady then said I had to pay fuel surcharge of €135 which is refundable if return full. That was fine. Then she said I had to take out there personal insurance. Explained I had insurance excess which she said wasn't going to cover their rental which was utterly rubbish. After 30mins had passed, she reluctantly took the €1400 blocked swipe of my car and we was on our way. Very very rude and told me not to shout at her which I honestly wasn't doing. She was mis-selling which not give me all options. I assume they are on commission. Kept saying that a 5p dent or a scratch would cost €700. I'm a careful driver having driver loads of hire cars before and never had so much bother getting a car. It was almost 11pm at this point. Once it was sorted, the car we got was nice and did the job. It was cheap for a reason .. there is no customer service. Be warned there might be hidden charges so also check goldcar website. There rating is also low and branded as robbers. It's true. Will never use again.
