1. I reserved a Mercedes Classe B, but I was given a Citroën Picasso at pickup. The staff said it was an upgrade, though I'm not very familiar with it. That said, the car was in great condition, spacious, and fully automatic settings took some time to get used to. Ultimately, it was fuel-efficient (being a diesel car), had good handling, and plenty of power. The built-in navigation system was very helpful, and we were quite satisfied. 2. The only nerve-wracking part was returning the car at Nice station. The parking lot path extended up to the top floor, involving a narrow spiraling road across 7 levels. It could have been easy to scratch the car, but fortunately, everything was fine in the end.

Pickup and drop-off were convenient. I chose them because of the Alfa Romeo posters but was given a Volkswagen Golf instead. So, if you are aiming for an Alfa Romeo, the chances are very slim. Don’t be misled by the covers featuring Alfa Romeo. If there are two people, a Renault automatic would be very cost-effective. After returning, my credit card was charged 323 euros, and I don’t know what for. Post-rental service is still handling it.

When picking up the car, we were told that the vehicle we booked was not available. We had to either pay extra for an upgrade or take a lower-tier car. We opted to pay more and chose an Audi A3. After returning home, I found out that this car is considered the same grade as the one I originally booked at another rental company, but not with Europcar, where it was considered a higher grade, costing an extra 40 euros per day. At the counter, we were asked if we wanted to return the car with a full tank of gas. The desk clerk advised us not to, saying it would save us time as we wouldn't have to look for a gas station before returning the car. We followed the advice, but upon returning the car, we were charged an extra 100 euros for fuel. The original order had the full-tank requirement, which the counter made us believe was adjusted with the additional charges. This whole experience was terrible, and we had to accept the loss after returning home.

Even early in the morning, there's a queue right after they open. I didn't get the Alfa Romeo I booked; they gave me a hybrid Toyota instead, and the deposit is higher than other companies. The inspection form didn't carefully record all vehicle scratches; luckily, I noticed and made them add two more. Otherwise, returning the car would have been a disaster. This was the strictest car return inspection I've ever experienced in Europe!
