1. The staff of an international car rental company couldn't speak English, making communication very difficult.
2. The comprehensive insurance bought on the rental website was not recognized by Hertz staff and we were forced to purchase additional insurance for 552 dirhams.
3. After unsuccessful communication with Hertz staff, they said 'pay or leave' with a very rude attitude, as if we were causing trouble.
An elderly lady was working at the counter, very slow and impatient, with a terrible attitude. When I arrived, there was one customer ahead of me. It took almost an hour for my turn. The staff was insufficient, and on top of that, they had a bad attitude.
The car was in terrible condition, making very loud noises like it was about to fall apart, and it wasn't even clean. The body was covered in collision marks and scratches. The windows were dirty, and we spent 30 yuan to have it cleaned ourselves. The fuel cap wouldn't open despite numerous attempts at unlocking it, it seemed to rely on luck. Both doors were hard to open, and the right one couldn't open at all. A very bad experience. Also, we had to wait an hour past the scheduled time to get the car at Fez.
This has been the worst experience among all my international car rentals, bar none. When picking up the car, they aggressively pushed insurance on me despite my insistence that I had already purchased comprehensive coverage. They claimed I would understand why at drop-off. And indeed, during drop-off, they blamed us for a scratch that the previous renter had caused. Luckily, we had taken photos of the car's body, but not the windows. They insisted that a small chip in the window was our fault. We had no incidents at all, but because we hadn't photographed the window, we had to pay. After returning to my home country, I found out they had actually charged my deposit. I was speechless. I asked Zuzuche staff to help clarify the situation with the rental company, and they responded that it would take 28 business days to resolve. What a joke. Never renting from Thrifty again. Future travelers, beware, don't fall into this trap.
Service was average. We couldn't find the place initially, and even after we got through on the phone, we were not given a clear address or anyone to guide us. We ended up asking a local to lead us there.
The place was supposed to be open at the specified time, but it wasn't. We waited for an hour before getting the car. Maybe it's a local trait. Also, it wasn't a Passat; we got a CC instead. However, the car was still good.
The attitude wasn't good, that's one thing; I think I encountered a scam. Photos attached, two small damages, not even sure if they're caused by me. I didn't take photos of the car when I picked it up, so I'm at a disadvantage. When returning the car, the guy who spoke French wiped the dust off the front windshield with his hand and found a small dent. Also, the rims of three wheels were scratched. The deposit was directly charged as an expense! Now they say they will keep my entire deposit, over twenty thousand. Ridiculous, right? If Zuzuche doesn't resolve this issue, this platform is meaningless. I waited for more than two months for this result!
Midway through our trip, the car's engine oil light went on. We called for roadside assistance, and they said it would be swapped immediately, but it took until the third day when we arrived in Tangier from Chefchaouen. Most of our calls were unanswered, and when answered, they said they would come quickly, but no one arrived. Eventually, we found the car exchange point at the airport and swapped the car ourselves, which wasted a lot of time. Exchanging the car and then returning it felt like we did it twice. During pick-up, the staff didn't record any of the numerous scratches on the car, saying they were not an issue, but during drop-off, they nitpicked even small scratches, blaming us. Thankfully, we had taken detailed videos and photos during pick-up, matching them exactly, which saved us from unnecessary fines.
