The service at the return location was mediocre. The first time I drove around and couldn't find it, the second time I went to ask at the service desk, and the staff was visibly unhappy.
The car is relatively new, but for some reason, they provided a Nissan without navigation and no CarPlay. We had to use the phone for navigation from the passenger seat, which was very inconvenient and made for a terrible experience.
Requested a manual transmission. Were given an automatic. Pick up process took so long that we took what we were given. Very disorganised - staff had no idea which car our key belonged to. Actually walked round the car park till a car opened! Long queue of customers when we came to drop car back but they kindly let us walk through & just gave the key to lady behind the desk.

Very smooth booking process although it sadly doesn’t carry through to the actual collection of the vehicle.
Rented a car in Avignon, and it was exceptionally good. The car had 60,000 kilometers but was extremely smooth to drive, especially on the way to Sainte-Croix Lake. It performed excellently on the downhill roads back to Cannes, even with narrow and winding paths.
The staff's attitude was disrespectful and rude. From the beginning, they claimed they could not find my reservation and insisted that I had never booked a Volvo or paid a deposit. After wasting a lot of time, they said my driver's license did not have an issuance date and therefore could not prove my driving experience. Then they argued my address was listed as being in the United States and rudely asked if I was unclear about my own address. After much hassle, I was finally told that only a Ford Kuga was available, and I could either rent it or walk away with no other options. Throughout the entire process, I strongly felt discriminated against. Other American customers at the same location were also given a hard time, showing that the staff here have serious attitude issues. I will never choose Alamo again.
The car was clean and spacious, although its power was mediocre. However, I recommend friends who plan to drive in France not to rent overly large models, as almost all garages are quite narrow, making parking considerably challenging.
We received a free upgrade to a newer car. The vehicle was in great condition, and returning it was incredibly easy and straightforward. Although there was a language barrier, the staff was very friendly and patient. Everything went smoothly!
The Hertz service in Avignon was extremely poor. A middle-aged Caucasian woman was very discriminatory towards Chinese customers, spoke in a very impatient and rude manner. Since we purchased full insurance, they gave us a car with scratched paint and refused to replace it when we asked. They kept pushing us to upgrade by paying extra, and the car provided was much smaller than the Renault model we originally booked. Overall, highly not recommended.
The Europcar staff in Avignon was humorous and enthusiastic, providing a detailed explanation of the car's various functions. Returning the car was also very convenient; just pay attention to the signs inside the airport to locate the rental car return area. It's recommended to purchase full insurance directly from the rental company to avoid disputes.
