Another attendant came and demanded an additional 45 euros for windshield insurance before giving us the car. We offered 30 euros, but the original attendant denied asking for money. We were forced to buy the 45-euro windshield insurance. When we asked to cancel the reservation, they said no refunds. This way, we ended up paying more and the rental cost increased by 70%. Surprisingly, the same credit card went through immediately for the 45-euro charge, showing the issue with the deposit was fake.
When I went to pick up the car in the morning, the staff seemed to have a poor impression of Chinese drivers. He repeatedly asked if I really wanted to rent the car and kept emphasizing how much I would have to pay if there was an accident. It was quite confusing at first. I had to repeatedly assure him that I could drive and really wanted to rent the car. After a long explanation, he finally rented the car to us. It was quite strange. Perhaps because this place is very rural and I rented a mini convertible, he was worried I might damage it. It was a bit frustrating. In the end, I returned the car in perfect condition without any issues.
