1. The counter staff was not particularly friendly and seemed somewhat arrogant towards Chinese tourists, possibly due to previous negative experiences with other tourists.
2. The return inspection was extremely thorough, with three rounds outside, three rounds inside, using hands and lights, but no damage was found. Possibly because: firstly, we took great care during use, avoiding bumps; secondly, we spent around 1000 local currency (about 60 RMB) to clean the car before returning it; thirdly, the car was not cleaned when we picked it up, it even had bird droppings, and the staff wanted to return it based on the previously marked damage list, but we insisted on rechecking and found at least three traces, which we recorded to avoid issues during return.
3. Conflicts arise from cultural differences, but mutual understanding is key, even with overseas car rentals. We respect others, and they will respect us.
I personally think that those who don't purchase full insurance are checked more thoroughly because, in the logic of the locals: 'If you don't buy full insurance and there's hidden damage, how can I know? Therefore, I must be more meticulous in my inspection.' This is understandable and possibly due to previous distrust caused by dishonest renters.
The car pickup process was fine, but the drop-off at the airport was very unsatisfactory. The main issue was that they did not acknowledge the existing scratches on the front right bumper and insisted it was our fault, claiming it wasn't recorded in their system. When we picked up the car, the Eurocar staff was very careless and didn't confirm with us if there were any issues with the lower front right area. They just did a rough check and only documented some scratches after we insisted. During the return, they focused on the areas that weren't confirmed initially and blamed us, even though it was clearly old damage. They just said it wasn't recorded in their system, so it was our responsibility. Additionally, they asked us specifically about our insurance coverage and, upon learning we only had basic insurance, started nitpicking to find faults. Serious complaint about this, and I do not recommend Chinese people to rent Eurocar vehicles in Serbia in the future.
The rental company staff did not follow the proper procedures and deducted over 1000 RMB from us without sufficient evidence. The communication and coordination by the rental platform were clearly inadequate, and we did not receive any of the requested photos from the rental company. The final result was unsatisfactory and frustrating. Lesson learned: Make sure the rental company follows procedures and take plenty of photos as evidence before renting.
The price didn't match what was advertised on the website. The site mentioned a charge of 4.8 euros per day for crossing the border. We only needed the car for two days in Montenegro but were told to pay a maximum charge of 48 euros for ten days (even though we were renting the car for only eight days). The reason given was that they couldn't know how many days we would be abroad, despite entry and exit records clearly showing this. It felt like an overcharge.
