Professional service for pickup and drop-off was smooth, with a simple and quick process. The provided vehicle was in good condition, and there was no hard sell on insurance. The only downside was that the store's phone was not always reachable, but everything else was great.
They immediately tried to sell insurance and push a daily EZpass fee. The car was quite old, and I had to change the car three times before getting the model I reserved. I won't rent from Thrifty or Dollar again.
On the third day after picking up the car from Thrifty on the 23rd, the car signaled an oil change alert and started shaking on the 25th. I immediately contacted the car rental service:
1. Initially, the rental company asked me to change the oil myself. Aside from the fact that I don't know how to do it or what oil to buy, they couldn't answer who would be responsible if anything went wrong. So, I refused.
2. I requested a replacement vehicle from Thrifty, which was unsuccessful.
3. I then asked Thrifty to tow the car away and refund the rental fee from the 25th to August 5th while reserving the right to claim for any additional losses caused by the car issues.
4. Towing service was supposed to start on the 26th but was delayed. Eventually, they towed the car without notifying me, leading me to think the car was stolen, almost prompting me to report it to the police. Yet, Thrifty still wanted to charge me. Excuse me? They rented out a poorly maintained car, and now they wanted to bill me for parking fees?!
5. A long battle for my rights began… countless calls to customer service and specialists, and each time I had to re-explain this whole story. Every representative was polite and said the same thing - they are communicating with Thrifty and need 10-20 working days.
It’s been nearly three weeks now, and I still haven’t received a satisfactory resolution. I've been using this company for over ten years, and this is my first trip to the US post-pandemic. Two rentals, one in Los Angeles where my booking was overbooked, and this one in Boston where the car broke down in two days. Neither issue has been resolved to this day. The rental fee was collected in full, but getting a refund is incredibly difficult. The company's problem-solving ability is appalling and disappointing. I will definitely turn to other services like Ctrip in the future; they handle issues efficiently and provide refunds promptly, usually within three days. Without a doubt, the difference in service quality is night and day.
Everything went fine. The car was perfect and the staff was very efficient.
The only little problem I experienced was a long waiting time at Boston airport but I was anyway satisfied
About QEEQ:9.0/10
I found the best rate and I was also positively surprised by the fact that I didn't had to pay anything in advance
Le tarif pour une journée de location au guichet Thrifty était 3 fois plus cher que celui en ligne. Nous avons donc réservé en ligne pour bénéficier du tarif le plus avantageux.
