First time driving in the US. The multi-day trip along the West Coast was amazing, and the cool Mustang was awesome. Both picking up and returning the car were very convenient.
The pick-up and drop-off process was very convenient. Although I rented the car for 4 days, I only used it for 3 days and was charged accordingly. The car was very new.
This was my first time using Dollar in Las Vegas. I had to wait for an hour and a half to get the car. First, they tried to make us buy prepaid gas and extra insurance. After we refused, the staff became visibly unhappy and rushed us through the confirmation process. When returning the car, we were in a hurry and thought that filling up the tank would be sufficient. However, one staff member insisted we needed the last refueling receipt; otherwise, we'd be charged $9.89, regardless of whether the tank was full, because it was stated in the contract. Upon closer inspection, the printout from the pickup did mention this clause, which clearly feels like unfair practice. There was no reminder about this at the pickup! While we were arguing, another staff member came to inspect the car and quickly approved it without any issues, allowing us to leave. As for the car condition, this was the worst among all my overseas rental experiences. I rented a Jeep Cherokee but received a Ford. The car had a strong, unpleasant odor and had run over 40,000 miles, which is nearly 65,000 kilometers. To reach 75 mph, I had to floor the gas pedal, making the engine rev up to 4,000-5,000 RPM, and it struggled with inclines.
The pick-up process was slow, and they kept trying to sell me insurance and other extra services, all of which I declined. When I returned the car, I accidentally left my navigation system in it. I contacted QEEQ when I got back home, but never heard back. Sigh, Americans aren't necessarily more courteous. Other than that, the return process was pretty convenient. You just hand them the car, they check it, and that's it. Overall it was okay, but the lost navigation was a letdown.
An older Chinese guy at the counter first tried to persuade me to buy full insurance. After I refused, he insisted that I must buy an insurance, saying it was a must. I didn't think it through and agreed after calling the rental company to inquire, paying an additional $111.92 for the insurance. Two days later, I looked at the receipt and realized that the insurance was only potential insurance. Looking back at the email from the rental company, I felt deceived. I will never choose Dollar again!
The service was very convenient. We picked up the car at Las Vegas airport, where all rental companies are located in the same hall. It's very easy, just a short wait in line. It's best to bring a translated copy of your driver's license for quicker processing. You can decline any additional insurance or services offered at the counter, and they won't push it further. After completing the paperwork, you'll sign on an electronic screen to confirm, ensuring the charge is zero. The cars are located in a nearby parking lot, and you can choose your vehicle within the same category, based on the available options. At the parking lot exit, staff will do a final check and you can be on your way. Overall, the process is very quick. We returned the car at LAX, which took quite a while to find the return location. If you're not returning the car at the same place you picked it up, allow extra time to find the return spot. Returning the car is simple: staff will check the car's condition and fuel gauge, and may ask for the last refueling receipt. Once confirmed, they'll print you a receipt and you're done.
