Very pushy on selling additional insurance! I have ended up buying one as i was put in panic mode by the agents behind the counter. First car developed a problem after four days , phoned assistance and i ended up doing a 120 miles round trip back to Palermo to swap vehicle! All to my expenses. Second car, after only 60 miles, needed a full tank of adblue. Wont use them again.
The car was quite damage and I was not very happy considering that I needed it for a wedding. Also I had a warning light about "changing the oil immediately" not ideal when We were going around Sicily. The wipes were terrible and they were not cleaning the screen at all. At some point I had to stop and buy some cloths and window cleaner because with the sun I was not able to see. The roof was playing up and in various time it stayed open.

Avoid Optimorent (Autovia)! E.g. when you take away the car they tell you to touch with your fingers (!!) the bottom edge of the car for scratches. When you return they will blame you for minor scratches and try to steal extra money from you. If you can not avoid them, make detailed video on all parts of the car. Use mirror to check the bottom edge of the car. Is it funny? No, you will not laugh when they blame you for ‘damages’. They seem to be cheap but they will be very expensive at the end. Use other rental company to avoid problems!
The car was not premium class as booked. They did not have the Mercedes I originally booked and gave me a Kia instead. This should have been another premium car but anyways accepted it.

About italy car rent:8.3/10
When dropping off the car they immediately found some almost invisible very small dent which is invisible to the untrained eye. It wass dent (not a scratch) of maybe 0,5mm over 5cm. For sure it must have been on the car when I picked it up. Anyway I had to pay 295 EUR for damages while I never had any damage caused myself.
Europecar offered me Fiat 500L instead of Renault Megane or any other with similar size of trunk. Fiat has 450 liters trunk, but every other car on list of similar cars has more than 500 (520-550) liters trunk.
So I was forced to pay over 150 euro extra for a Seat Leon with automatic transmission (they had only Fiats in this class of cars), because I was not able to pack my luggage to Fiat 500L.
There were some other issues like for example no spare wheel in the car, or any tyre repair kit, what I found after couple of days. Luckily I didn't need it.
You have to carefully inspect the car, because half of scratches are not on the list of damages in the document you get.
Europecar has now totally different way of doing business, comparing with my previous experience with this company.
Extremely disappointed with the pick-up experience, had to queue (standing) for over 2 hours to pick up the car, no apology offered for waiting so long in line, by the time I got the keys and picked up the car it was close to 3 hours, I was only on vacation for 6 days so to have to spend almost 3 hours picking up a car rental would make me not want to use your service again if this is the acceptable level of service hertz is happy with. Since almost all rentals these days are pre booked and flight details given I can't understand why there would be a better system in place so people don't have to waste time standing in line for hours. I was so unhappy with this service, wouldn't use again.
Overall, it was okay, but I had to wait a while to pick up the car; the process was too slow. The paperwork was done inside the airport, but the car pick-up was in an external parking lot. Couldn't they clearly mark pick-up and drop-off points? Also, the car they gave me was much lower in class compared to my reservation, especially in terms of engine power. Not sure if it was QEEQ's issue or Hertz's, but they downgraded my car without informing me.
Counter staff tried to sell us additional insurance for 300 USD telling us that insurance we have bougt on easyrent car is not valid, what was not true. We did not buy it.
Green Motion is an absolute scam in how they run their business. When we dropped the car off they went out of their way to find an issue with the car, and they did.
We were charged an additional 81 euros for a hub-cap scratch. A scratch that I don’t think we did.
We couldn’t argue much with them because we were off site and most likely they would not taken us back to the airport if we created an issue.
Complete crooks!
The car was great. The windscreen needed a clean but the interior was very clean. I chose them because the other car providers at Palermo airport had horrible reviews. They were very above board and drop off was so easy. The lady at drop off (sorry forgot her name! Started with an M) was so lovely.
We waited for more then an hour to pick up our car and the then the desk staff were grumpy and made me feel that I was making a big mistake not taking out their insurance. They told me that my own insurance wasn’t good enough and that I would definitely be paying some money to them by the end of my trip. They told me ‘good luck driving here’.
