The contract details with Avis were not as clear as with Hertz, and the on-site charges were higher than the online rates. In New Zealand, we used Hertz on the South Island and Avis on the North Island, and Hertz was definitely better.

The trunk of the Mitsubishi is much larger than the CX-5, making the journey more comfortable for passengers. The pickup service was not satisfactory; there was no explanation during the pickup, they just told us where the car was parked and were in a hurry to leave without any enthusiasm from the staff.

Car didn’t used very little petrol, so that was great. Our car didn’t have a lot of power though, so it was a bit hard to get up the mountain. Very good renting experience, would recommend thrifty.
