They didn't have an economy car available when I arrived and they charged me an additional expense of over $80+ just to drive off. They wouldn't let me have a vehicle without payment. I was very disappointed in this process.

Terrible service!! Not friendly at all! Waited over an hour to get the suv they didnt have. I had paid the deposit online plus the insurance for a total to be C$224.58 (Allianz for C$ 119.92). And now have been Charged $464.61!! USD? Are you kidding me?
I was speaking to someone via 'monitor' and when I said I checked to pay the insurance and didnt need anything else he somehow said "just the standard?" and bamboozled me!
The vehicle smelt like marijuana inside! The back passenger side tire was below pressure and when asked to pressurize it...they had nobody to do it and asked if I wanted a different vehicle (So I could wait another hour plus)?
I will look into these manipulative practices which seem to be a scam and possibly contact the BBB.
I want my money back! I will never use ACE again nor advise anyone to use this company....
I am not finished with this yet and look to be compensated for the full amount as recompense.
The directions to the shuttle provided incorrect bus stop information. Other than that, pretty great experience. It was kind of weird that the 3 people sitting at the counters couldn’t assist me and that we had to do a video check in with a remote CSR, but it was ok.
Upon drop off, there were a lot of people waiting for the shuttle with no sort of ETA on when it would be there and so I ended up having to get an Uber.
Overall very disappointed with ACE. You check in with some via iPad- who then makes you read out loud your credit card- even though it was provided when reservation was made- is this not a privacy issue? Also service desk was under staffed. When I returned the car and asked for a receipt the agent was rude - overall good price but poor service.
Their location is very inconvenient, you have to take a shuttle from LAX to a parking lot then take another shuttle to get to their car rental office. They were very dishonest and unprofessional; I booked a Hyundai Santa Fe or similar SUV (Toyota Rav4 or Nissan Rogue) but they keep insisting that they ran out (very dishonest because there were several available in the parking lot) of those SUVs so they tried to give me the Zeep Wrangler. Save yourself time and do not go with ACE car rental. Very bad service and lots of headaches.
