The Chinese language service is nice and very helpful. Changing the drop-off location was also smooth, but there was a charge that wasn't clearly explained over the phone. Overall it's quite good, with a competitive price. They didn't push any extra items when picking up the car. Since I was planning a road trip, I opted for roadside assistance at $5 per day, which is reasonable. Alamo is quite friendly about opting out of certain charges, like crossing the Golden Gate Bridge (north to south); if you pay online yourself, you can automatically opt-out of Alamo’s charges without contacting them. Picking up a car at San Francisco airport was quite intense, it felt like there were more people than cars, and you had to grab one as soon as it appeared.
