This was my first time renting a car overseas, and here is my overall experience: After arrival, I was quite confused and couldn't find the car rental location. The order only mentioned 'in the airport,' and contacting the car rental service didn't help with the exact location. However, when I contacted the car rental company mentioned on my order, a Chinese-speaking representative answered and asked for my location (I was at Gate 3 of the international arrival hall at that time). He said he would send someone to find us immediately. After waiting for half an hour without any contact, we asked airport staff for help in English, using a lot of gesturing, and wasted quite a bit of time finding the rental counter. The car was good and worked well. Being inexperienced, I didn't realize that the fuel tank should be full when picking up the car. I signed for the car with the tank at 70%. Upon return, I also left the tank at 70%. The staff took out the rental agreement I had signed, which showed the fuel tank should have been 100% full. I didn't argue and paid a fuel fee of 15 MYR. Lesson learned. Returning the car was just as difficult as picking it up. I couldn't find the drop-off location and didn't contact the car rental service because I knew they wouldn't know either. Eventually, I called the rental company, and a Chinese-speaking representative informed me that there was no actual office at Johor Bahru Airport even though I chose to return the car there. They had to send someone to pick up the car, which took 40 minutes. To be fair, I did return the car a day early, which might have caused them to be unprepared. Overall, while the rental and use of the car were good, the pick-up and drop-off experiences were very disappointing.

Given an old scratchy c”
About Europcar:5.0/10
The car given was an old car; may be 10 years old model with lots of scratches. As our flught to KUL was delayed by 4 hrs, we could pick up the car after midnight. Though we, me and my father, managed to make the staff mark many scratches on the vehicle at night, it seems a couple of scratches were not marked. This was pointed out by the EuropeCar staff at drop off, who treated me & father badly. The scratch seemed rusted and atleast 2 months old. We are frequent travelers and this is the first time ever we were treated as if we did some grave mistake, that too after giving us an old car with lots of scratches. The staff who spoke to us rudely commented that he will check with EuropeCar management before releasing MYR 1000 taken as deposit.
Please take this up with them and kindly help to get us the deposit without delay.
Thanks

European is giving second disappointment. First, car air conditioning broke down and requires car be changed giving us inconveniences. Second, car was not at designated location although it had been confirmed via email.
Please improve.
