Vancouver - Jasper - Banff - Calgary

There was only one person in line when picking up the car, so the process was quite fast. Initially, they gave me the wrong car, a Ford FLEX, which was also large but smaller than the Suburban. I estimated that the luggage space wouldn't be sufficient, so they changed it after I pointed it out. They strongly recommended the roadside assistance plan, which costs 7 CAD per day. I hadn't intended to buy it, but considering the mountain roads, I bought it for peace of mind. In the end, I didn't need to use it. When returning the car, I was charged a late fee. After disputing it, the fee was waived. Although I did return the car about ten minutes late, the staff had indicated that up to an hour would be fine, which is why I was a bit late. Next time, I'll make sure to return it on time. My agreement was to return the car with a full tank, but the gas station attendant didn't fill it completely, which wasn't really my fault as I had asked him to fill it up. Fortunately, there was no penalty.

The process went smoothly. I bought insurance in advance, and the store did not push for additional purchases. However, there were no snow tires or similar equipment. Be careful when driving in snowy areas like Banff. The car was in great condition, so it was safe to drive in the snow.

Economical and affordable

It was my first time renting a car overseas and I had a genuinely good experience with Alamo. I initially reserved a Ford Fusion, a large car for 4 people. Perhaps they saw we had more luggage, or maybe they didn’t have our reserved model. Either way, they upgraded us for free to a Dodge 7-seater MPV. It was a new car, with only over 1100 km on it. As a result, our trip in Vancouver was very smooth and enjoyable. Alamo definitely deserves 5 stars!
