They tried to sell extra insurance at pickup. Make sure to carefully check for any additional charges before signing. Just insist you don't need it, and it will be fine. The car's condition was good, it was a fuel-efficient, lightweight Japanese car, and the speed was decent. Returning the car took only a minute.
Traveled with kids and arrived at 12:30 AM, only rented for one day. I wanted to get the car quickly and rest, but ended up waiting over an hour. Finally got the car past 2 AM. There were only two staff members: one of them started the check-in process but then said they were going to check the car and never came back. Other customers got their cars and left. Then I had to find another staff member to recheck in, who was slightly more reliable, but only a little. Sigh, I’ve rented cars from this company before and had a good experience, so I guess it depends on who you deal with and your luck.
This was the first time I encountered a staff member who was overly pushy with upselling. At the beginning, she greeted me warmly, but then she aggressively tried to sell me insurance. Despite me repeatedly stating I didn’t need it and even calling Zuzuche’s customer service, the female staff member insisted rudely, saying, 'I don’t communicate with anyone else; you definitely need this extra roadside assistance insurance.' It wasn’t until Zuzuche's customer service asked her, 'Are you saying the customer can’t pick up the car without buying insurance?' that she finally stopped. The entire rental process ended up being delayed by nearly two hours. Additionally, when returning the car, I was about 10 minutes late because of rush hour traffic and stopping to refuel. I explained the delay to the staff on site, but they still mercilessly charged me over $60. The cost for those 10 minutes was simply too high. I strongly recommend avoiding this car rental company if possible. I’ve rented cars in the U.S. many times, and this is the first time I’ve encountered such an unreasonable company. That said, the car they provided me was brand new—GMC—which slightly made up for the unpleasant pickup and return experiences.
