This was the worst car rental experience I've had in many years. They gave us a car that already had scratches. Thankfully, we had full insurance and took photos when we picked up the car. We returned the car in Salzburg, and the rental company staff there asked for a damage report from when we rented the car. No one had given us or reminded us to take such a report earlier, but they said it was fine since we had full insurance and we wouldn't need to pay extra. In the end, we found out they charged us an additional 140 euros, and we have no idea what for. We contacted the rental car service to inquire. It's been over a week now, and we still haven't received a response. Very dissatisfied.

I wanted to rent a car with a spacious backseat that could fit three 24-inch suitcases, so I specifically chose a Volkswagen Golf. However, when I arrived at the rental office, there were only two Indian staff members who were very indifferent. They said only the CHR was available, and if I wanted a different model, I would have to wait an unspecified amount of time. Due to being in a hurry, I had no choice but to accept it. The next day, I contacted the rental platform to request a vehicle change, but even after two days, they couldn't reach the rental office. Extremely disappointed with the German rental company.

Hertz service was good. The wait time to pick up the car was quite long, but there was a staff member to check the car upon return. Our car's windshield had a small dent from a rock, which was noted by the staff. Once the return process was completed, I received the billing statement a few days after returning home. The damage assessment was reasonable, good service.

Hertz at Munich Airport has many customers picking up cars, but the staff is very friendly and does not aggressively upsell. They upgraded us for free to a Volvo XC90 diesel, which has plenty of space. If you only have two pieces of luggage, it can seat seven people. It comes with a built-in navigation system with both Chinese and English subtitles; the English version is more accurate and has a wider search range. The car was brand new with excellent performance, providing a superb driving experience.

The staff at the store were friendly, the car was relatively new and performed well. However, I originally rented an Opel or a similar model, and the store gave me a Fiat 500X. Is that in the same category? Was it an upsell? During the return, the staff mentioned a tire scratch and a tiny paint chip on a mirror. I believe these were pre-existing, as I had no incidents during my trip. Unfortunately, I didn't notice them during pick-up.
