Routes is understaffed

The experience was terrible. The Indian guy insisted on buying insurance, claiming that the insurance from the rental platform was inadequate. When I refused, his attitude became extremely rude. It was so bad that I canceled all my remaining bookings with this company and switched to a larger company, even though it cost more.

After booking, I received the pickup voucher. When I arrived and called, they asked where I was from. I said China, and they immediately said they wouldn't give me the car because I was from China. I immediately complained, saying firstly, you didn't inform of this condition before booking, and secondly, isn't this blatant discrimination? When escalated to the manager, the manager said we just don't rent to you. You should get a refund from the booking platform. This is truly ridiculous.

Received a free upgrade to a new GMC at pickup, it was awesome! Simply excellent!

I spent almost 2 hours at the pick up store. The process to get a car form Routes is so so lengthy and paper based and tiring that in that same time I could file my papers and start running for the Premier of Ontario. I mean its just crazy long process - location is short staffed as well. I still gave 4 star rating just because the person at the counter was courteous though also already frustrated with that kind of paperwork. I could actually see their coffee cup filled and cold - their management has to do something about this crappy situation. There were abt 6 people ahead of me in the queue and still I spent abt 2 hours picking the car.
