The counter staff at Apex was unhelpful, rude and very short with us. She didn't check the car with us, just told us where it was. The car we received was from 2011, the bumper was dislodged and had to be snapped back into place, the inside panel casing around the seatbelt repeatedly had to be pushed back together. The radio in the car would not connect to my phone.

The rental company suggested I rent snow chains, but I'm confident they should know that it's not necessary for the road to Milford Sound.
I needed to return the car by 8:00 AM. I arrived at 7:45 AM, and when someone arrived at the office around 7:50 AM, they told me they weren't open yet and that I had to wait until 8:00 AM. I just wanted to sit inside until they opened because it was quite cold outside.
Compared to my last car rental experience in New Zealand, this time wasn't as good. First, the vehicle handover took a lot of time, especially when returning the car at Christchurch Airport. Previously, it was a matter of just dropping off the key, but this time I had to wait half an hour for someone to attend to me. The service was very inefficient. Thankfully, I had enough time to catch my flight. Second, the staff's attitude towards Chinese customers, especially those with limited English, was quite poor. They seemed not very willing to help. I requested a newer car, but was given one with nearly 120,000 km on it, and the gearbox was very stiff. The car struggled a lot when going uphill with four people. I don't think I'll choose this company again.

Nice compact car , good driving and fuel efficient - would have been good to have some extra tech in the car like a reverse camera, car play etc but other than that
