I rented a Ford Edge, but upon pickup, I was asked to switch to a BMW X5, which increased the cost to over $120 per day. Additionally, if you choose to pay at the store, you'll incur a nearly 50% non-package fee and be asked to add several types of insurance, making the final cost twice as high as what was listed on the rental site.
Due to language barriers, the staff was noticeably impatient and kept pushing additional insurance and vehicle upgrades, despite my original rental including full insurance. This added to the overall cost. On the plus side, there was hardly a queue.
I expected Chrysler Mini Van, but they assigned Dodge Mini Van. I asked to a Mini Van other than Dodge, but they did accept my request. I drove a Dodge Mini Van for 5 days, but car condition and quality was very very terrible. Finally I asked to change to other than Dodge, but they changed to other Dodge Mini Van because they had only Dodges. I drove the second Dodge for 7days, which was also very terrible. I rent cars very frequently, but I had never experienced with that kinds of terrible cars and will never rend Dodge Mini Vans.
About QEEQ:8.0/10
I would like to ask Easyrentcars to ask rental car company to assign a Mini Van other than Dodge to me when I reserve a Mini Van in future. If it is not confirmed I may not be able to reserve a Mini Van.
The elderly gentleman at Avis was very nice, but they often don't have the specified model. Upgrades cost extra. If it's not our fault the model isn't available, we might get a free upgrade depending on our attitude. Unfortunately, this time we paid more and got misled.
They added extra insurance without explanation (I had already purchased it during the booking and provided it along with the rental reservation form). They also switched to a fuel-empty return policy without asking. During the pickup process, the staff barely spoke five sentences to me, mainly urging me to sign the contract without showing me the specific terms. It was a deceptive transaction and a very unsatisfactory rental experience. I won't rent from AVIS again.
“expensive for the car we got. It is old car. It should not be for rental.”
About AVIS:6.0/10
Got the Old car (Old model more than 7 year ago). The car doesn’t support any new infotainment system (ie. Apple Carplay, Andriod Auto) or bluetooth connection.
Returning the car was very convenient, the process was simple. Due to the delay in finding the return location, the rental company was very considerate and took us directly to the airport. I will choose this rental company again next time.
We had to wait in line for almost an hour. The Avis employee added road assistance insurance and a tank of gas without informing us. We made her remove the road assistance from the bill. She then added an extra charge of seventy to eighty dollars for automatic tolls (like ETC). Even though we understand English, we had to ask her to remove that too, and she looked very unhappy!! We originally booked a Citroën but were given a two-door, gas-guzzling American red car instead, which was really unfair!!!
