The car pickup process was fine, but when I went to return the car at the agreed time and place, there was no staff to assist us. We couldn't get through on the phone, and when we finally did, they were extremely unhelpful and told us to wait. After an hour, they instructed us to leave the car in the parking lot and the keys at the front desk, without completing any formalities. After returning home, I received a call demanding I pay for the parking fee. Even though 200 baht isn’t much, it felt very unreasonable. Overall, it was a very unsatisfactory car rental experience. I would advise against renting from Thai Rent.
Because I had to find a gas station and the parking lot for returning the car at the airport, I was late by half an hour. The Thai staff was understanding. Overall, their service was enthusiastic and they were thorough during the car return.
There are only two issues: First, they said we could pick up the car on the 2nd floor of the airport and we left a note with our flight number, mentioning we'd arrive around 2 AM. However, when we got to the rental car counter, no one was there. As we were new and didn't speak much English, we had to ask the local staff to call the car rental company for us. Our whole family, with a 2-year-old baby, had to wait at the airport for about ten minutes before anyone showed up. This was somewhat disappointing. Second, when returning the car, I asked the hotel front desk to call the car rental company to request a pick-up at the hotel because we had a lot of luggage. They agreed initially, but later called back and all I understood was 'ONLY AIRPORT, ONLY AIRPORT,' meaning it wasn't possible. So, we had to return the car at the airport and then take a taxi to the hotel with our luggage. Aside from these two issues, everything was very satisfactory. The car was brand new, with only 5000 kilometers, and I might have been just the third or fourth person to use it.
Overall, it was quite good except for the long wait when picking up the car. I couldn't find the return location at the airport, so I called the rental company. After explaining the temporary parking location, a staff member came to inspect and collect the car shortly. The condition of the 80,000 km micro car was still relatively good. I specifically checked the tires, which seemed to be newly replaced, and the maintenance was fine. We drove this small car from Bangkok to Chiang Mai to Pai and back to Bangkok, covering a full 1,500 kilometers. We had a lot of fun.
Our flight arrived in Bangkok in the early morning. The counter staff was in the parking lot fetching a car for the previous customers, so we waited about 10 minutes. Once the staff returned, the paperwork was quickly completed. There was no Toyota Fortuner available, so they gave us a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, which was in good condition and relatively new. On returning, because we were in a hurry, we parked in the designated spot at the airport. The inspection lady was understanding and quickly checked the fuel gauge and walked around the car before signing off. Overall, a pleasant experience.
The only dissatisfaction was when returning the car. I got lost and wandered around for a long time. It took a long time to communicate with the rental company, and they just kept saying they were off work. Negotiating a late return was quite troublesome. Overall, it was a fairly good experience. The car had a problem; the automatic transmission kept stalling, and in Thailand, this caused numerous rolling incidents.
This is my second time using this company's car. The first time was in Chiang Mai, but this time it was in Bangkok. The staff at the rental company had a very poor attitude. They were unhelpful and barely responded when spoken to. Overall, their attitude was really bad.
