I used a debit card and the rental company said it was not a credit card and charged additional fees. When I inquired about the deposit, they said it was charged by the booking platform. In the end, a new contract was signed on the spot, and the amount was completely different from the original booking. When asked for an explanation, they couldn't provide a clear answer.

Car full of scratches before the rent
Surprised that at return there was a discussion or difference in opinion between us and the rental company, whether scratch number 51 had been there before or not
The car rental was very cheap compared to other companies. The conditions of the car was ok, I mean, u get what u paid. Overall experience was ok. Just that, staff are not in the office all the time. We need to call them first, then only they'll come.

They service was nice polite & efficient,they upgraded the car on arrival & notice that my luggage was too big to my first order. when i called them for inquiry during the the vacation they answer wright away.
The charges were significantly higher than the listed prices on the platform. The cross-border fee was 45 euros, after-hours pickup fee (e.g., after 9 PM) was 59.39 euros, and an additional driver cost 80 euros. None of these were clearly disclosed during the paperwork process at the counter. After returning the car, the final invoice was 200 euros more than the platform indicated!

As a long-time customer of the car rental service, I've rented cars in multiple continents and countries and always had positive experiences. However, my recent rental experience with Europcar at Vienna Airport, Austria, was a nightmare! Firstly, the pick-up area was dimly lit, making it hard to inspect the vehicle's condition, especially for a black car. The drop-off location, however, was a bright open space where every detail was visible. Due to this, the staff found a paint chip the size of a rice grain on the rear bumper when I returned the car. Despite my insistence that I didn't cause it, the company debited over 1060 euros from my credit card! A rice-sized paint chip equals over 1060 euros, revealing the company's greed clearly! Secondly, for my trip across 8 Central and Eastern European countries, I had paid Europcar the 'Other Insurance' and 'Cross Border Fee' as required. Despite this, they did not provide me with the 'Green Card,' a necessary document for cross-border travel. This oversight caused numerous delays at border crossings, forcing me to purchase a 'Green Card' for each country separately. Border police in each country unanimously said that the rental company must provide the 'Green Card' as part of the vehicle documents. Other renters I met had their 'Green Cards' issued without issue. Despite multiple inquiries through the car rental service and directly to Europcar, I have yet to receive a satisfactory response. I share this negative experience to caution other renters: unscrupulous and shameless companies exist everywhere, not just in China!
The Security Deposit for the car to hire was rediculous. 1000 euro was roughly $1600 AUD for me. This required me to shift money around on pickup to cover and i still haven’t received the funds back which is inconvenient currently for the rest of my trip where I need the $$$. I also checked over the car before leaving and lucky I did as there was damage on the roof which has not been documented from the previous rental driver. This was a near miss and I could easily have been slapped with the bill as a result.
We arrived 2 hours late, and the store informed us that there were no cars left. We had prepaid in full; shouldn't the car's usage rights belong to us for these days? It's not like we only paid a deposit.
Average service with pressuring customers. They did not acknowledge the insurance bought on the rental platform, causing us to spend an extra 200 euros on insurance. They mentioned it was optional, but in case of an incident, even with other insurance, they would still charge us.

Their company representatives' responses to us were shocking and drastically impacted our holiday.

the car was acselent. but ther should be a man with us when we peaked up the car. insted we had to go all the way back to the counter and tell them about 2 more screches that wasnt writen.
in the check out the man who checked us out said that ther was a screch on the will cover. the screch was ther from the begining and the man in the counter didnt write it doun
The counter staff MARK seemed rude and arrogant. No customer service etiquettes were observed in him. He wasn’t polite at all in his conversation and behaved as if he is doing a favor. Totally disappointed with the experience.
