They kept saying they couldn't process my old-fashioned credit card and forced us to buy their additional insurance, costing an extra 81 euros. What's the point of buying insurance from the rental platform then?
The staff at the counter was very attentive when explaining the procedures at pick-up. We found the car was almost new with just 1,945 kilometers. At drop-off, we arrived at 8:00 PM, and there was someone on duty. We mentioned that we had filled the tank and cleaned the car. He asked, 'Are you satisfied?' We replied, 'Very much.' He then waved his hand and said, 'OK, goodbye.' It was that simple.
Very efficient service, whether for picking up or returning the car. However, the return check was overly meticulous. I accepted even tiny scratches the size of a fingernail, but the repair cost for such a small scratch was over 200 euros! This is crazy. Thankfully, I bought full insurance.
I booked a Mercedes C-Class but was given a Passat. When asked why, they said their order system shows Passat for that category. A Mercedes C-Class would be two categories higher. Not sure what the rental company is doing. Spent twenty minutes on an international call but couldn't get a clear answer.
“All up a great experience for first time renter!”
About Hertz:9.7/10
Cant think of anything to do better, service, car, guide to pick up place etc. was all very easy. The only thing I had trouble understanding was the insurance, as I had already booked a part insurance with easyrent, did not know if I doubled up when I took out full cover insurance with Hertz.
The drop-off point at Frankfurt train station lacks any location details or signage, making it very inconvenient. The rental office is misleading, charging an extra 10 euros to park the car at a designated spot. They describe this spot as very complicated and troublesome, tricking you into paying the unjustified 10 euros. Additionally, there is no on-the-spot car inspection. Germans aren't as reliable as expected.
The front desk staff are very patient. The rental period coincided with major strikes in German railways and airports, so the demand for rental cars was high.
It was rush hour when picking up the car, took one and a half hours to get it.
They had issues recognizing my driving license, had to explain for a long time before they agreed to rent it to me.
