When renting the car, not only did they say the initially ordered model was unavailable, but the rental company's staff also took advantage of language barriers to push for a model change, increasing the cost. Upon returning home, my credit card was charged more than 3800 RMB when the rental should have only cost 201 Euros. The rental contract and card transaction receipts were taken when the car was returned, leaving me with no evidence.

The provided vehicle had three of the five front wheel bolts missing, which is shocking! The car started shaking on the road because the wheel was about to fall off. Passengers could only discover the cause by leaning out the backseat window. We were driving on an elevated road, and leaning out or a falling wheel could have resulted in fatal consequences. We had to stop on the emergency lane. However, Avis's assistance line, which claims to be available from 7 AM to 12 AM, did not answer after three long waits. In the end, we had no choice but to call the police, and a tow truck dragged the car to a temporary towing company, which also kept us waiting for half an hour. The entire experience was zero stars. Avis had promised a refund because of this incident, but it has been 20 days with no news.

The store location is extremely hard to find, and the pickup area is not in the same zone as the reception. Communicating with the staff at the reception, who speak poor French-accented English, is difficult. After completing the rental procedures, the staff provided just the route to the pickup area without any guidance, and no one told us about the parking entrance for returning the car. When returning the car, there was an extra charge of 40 EUR. The staff responsible for the car check said he only handles the car condition check and is not responsible for explaining the rental charges. It was already 10 PM, and we couldn't communicate with the store staff anymore, so we had to pay an extra 40 EUR. Later, I found out that the reception staff had sold us a full insurance package for 14.04 EUR, despite us clearly stating that we didn't need their insurance. There was also another unclear insurance charge of 9.25 EUR on the bill, and a service fee of 13.9 EUR. This was our first time renting a car abroad, and we ended up paying an extra 40 EUR. Very dissatisfied! AVIS, known as the top overseas car rental company, uses this method to make (trick) money, which is really disappointing! I won’t choose this company again!

The AVIS desk at Orly Airport was quite frustrating. The lady at the front desk didn’t want to handle my request and told me to go to the pick-up point to find someone else to assist me. However, the young black man at the pick-up point provided excellent service. I guess the staff attitudes are inconsistent. Compared to my experience in Nice, this was fairly standard, probably because I chose a lower category car. Anyway, I requested a hybrid Toyota Auris, which was quite nice and highly recommended for city use.
