The car rental staff was waiting for my return at 4 AM; however, the QEEQ Don Mueang Airport return navigation address was incorrect. I started driving at 3:50 AM; the incorrect navigation address kept leading me around the airport. I eventually had to pay 200 Baht for a motorcycle taxi to guide me to the airport's paid parking lot to return the car.
Average, the return experience was extremely poor. On the way to return the car, I missed the PTT gas station and the tank wasn't full, which cost around 300-400.
The reception was very good. There was a lady at the front desk and a gentleman inspecting the car. I was very satisfied because I only had a UnionPay card, and my VISA card was left at the hotel. The gentleman who inspected the car even accompanied me to the hotel to get the card (300 THB service fee). This also helped me get familiar with the driving conditions in Koh Samui. However, when returning the car, there was no one at the front desk to receive the car in the morning at the airport, and the guy who inspected the car earlier was nowhere to be found. I couldn't find anyone responsible and had to call to complain! Moreover, I had a flight to catch. The most annoying part was that I gave him a 150 THB tip, I returned the car with a full tank of gas, but after I got home, they charged me 420 THB for fuel (though I later disputed this through the rental car company and got it back, one thumbs up for that!). Overall, it was satisfactory, but it felt a bit like a good start with a poor finish!
The car pick-up was very quick, and the English was excellent, without any pushiness.
