Always a long wait at LAX for cars...this time no different but it was expected. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

“Will never rent from a Fox again”
About FOX RENT A CAR: 6.0 /10
The company billed me for the extra insurance even though I asked to decline it. They also hit me with an absurd $150 detailing fee after returning the car, even though the guy when I checked it back in said it looked good. All in all, my cheap rental ended up being more expensive than a premium car rental had I gone with a bigger brand company. Absolutely absurd. No one at Fox will respond to my emails or phone calls asking to escalate the issue up the chain. They sneakily had me sign a document adding insurance while quickly trying to finalize the booking after making me wait more than 30 minutes. I was behind one other person who was being helped when I walked in at around 10AM. Multiple other employees walking around the office, not doing anything substantial, and they just made me wait. When I finally get to the counter, I try and get through the process as fast as possible, and tell them I'm not interested in insurance as my personal car insurance will handle any problems. Then I somehow get billed an extra $100 for insurance over the duration of the trip. Absolute scam artists. I took the car to the beach. We ended up getting a small amount of sand in the carpet. When I turned the car back in, I asked if that was ok, and was told it wouldn't be a problem. Next thing I know, an added $150 detailing fee was hit on my card. There's a car wash at a gas station less than a block away from this car rental shop. I could have easily gone there, paid $20, and got the car washed and fully vacuumed out. If the guy had bothered to mention the detailing fee to me, I would have just done that and taken 10 minutes of my time and saved $130. Fox are scam artists. DON'T RENT FROM FOX

“Given wrong vehicle!”
About FOX RENT A CAR: 6.3 /10
Having had a vehicle from Fox the previous year that was insufficiently powered to get up to our ski area I specifically asked and requested a vehicle that was capable of being safe and adequate for what we were using it for. I specifically asked if our vehicle was an all wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicle. I was assured from the desk person that it was. I had no reason to question this because I was very specific in with my question. I was directed to a Toyota Forerunner and again assured it was an all or 4 wheel drive vehicle. It was adiquitly powered to get up to the ski area and did fine on dry roads but when we had a snow day we could not get up the hill. We got stuck in a potentially dangerous place part way up the hill. It was at that point that it became clear that we were given a two wheel drive vehicle not what we were told. This, unfortunately, put us in a dangerous position. I had to get the car back down the hill to a lower parking lot and get a ride from the ski mountain up to where we were staying. The car remained in that lower lot for several days being of no use to us. On the day we left for the airport we had to dig the car out of snowbanks created by the plowing of that lower lot. Fortunately, the roads that day were not snow covered and we were going downhill so we had no further issues. My complaint which I did send via email on Fox’s website was that I was specifically told that we had an all or 4 wheel drive car. We did not get what we were told we got. This put us without our knowledge, in a dangerous situation. I would have been ok to have been given a smaller vehicle with all or 4 wheel drive if a larger one was not available with those specifications.
