I chose full insurance from the car rental company when booking through QEEQ. At pickup, they offered roadside assistance, which I declined, and they didn't push further. I reserved a C-class Nissan Versa but received a B-class Kia Forte instead. The starting mileage was about 37,000 miles, but the car's condition was decent.
While driving, a small stone cracked the front windshield. Since I had full insurance, when returning the car, they only asked about the cause, location, and time of the damage, and the insurance covered everything. A $200 deposit was required at pickup and was refunded immediately after returning the car. Gas prices in California are generally high, and it seems the company estimates a full tank at a higher cost. So, I recommend skipping their refueling option and just refilling the tank yourself before returning the car.
I have rented from Thrifty several times at this location, but this was the most disappointing experience. After a late-night flight, the queue was long, and the Indian staff member aggressively upsold extras and insisted we pay for an upgrade. In the end, the car we received had a broken air conditioner.
They claimed there was a smoke smell in the car during return and wanted to charge me 400. They also promoted various insurance options at pickup. Do not book the cheapest option, go for the second tier instead.
