Very satisfied. We were given a Volkswagen Taigo with only 900 km on it, almost brand new. It was easy to drive, though a bit underpowered. The car had enough space for two people and two large suitcases. The rear seats could be folded down to connect with the trunk. Europcar provided excellent service. There were no upsell attempts, and they sincerely advised us that we didn't need to pay for additional options. Returning the car was quick—just drop off the keys, and the credit card hold was released immediately. Inside the car, a type-C charging cable is required to charge your phone.
The car pickup and return processes were convenient and fast. The staff carefully pointed out existing flaws when handing over the car. The return was very quick and not inspected in front of us, but after returning to our country, we received an email stating there were scratches and charged 240 euros. Fortunately, we had insurance, so there was no personal loss.
On the first day of the rental, we had a flat tire and had to get it replaced. The rental company did not cover this and charged us for a new tire of the same brand plus an additional 30 euros as a so-called management fee. When picking up the car, we were only informed about the extra driver fee, but upon return, they also charged us a young driver fee for drivers under 25. Fees should be clearly communicated from the beginning.
First, during car pick-up, the time was very tight and customers were not given enough time to inspect the car's condition, including any pre-existing exterior damage.
Second, during car return, they inspect the car with an overly critical attitude, even penalizing for tiny scratches less than a centimeter long.
Third, during car return, the company does not accept photos taken at the time of pick-up as evidence of existing damage, which is clearly unfair.
Fourth, the company has a bizarre and unreasonable policy: the inspection done in the presence of the customer during return is not final; it gets re-inspected after cleaning, and that is considered the final judgment.
I didn’t rate it one star but gave it two stars because their service attitude is still somewhat acceptable and there is room for negotiation.
