As soon as I exited the arrivals hall, I saw the rental company and was able to complete the rental procedures immediately. It was very convenient and fast.
During Christmas, the Bangkok airport was very crowded in the evening, but the YesAway counter only took about 10 minutes to get the car (assuming you have already booked and paid online).
When we picked up the car, the rental staff gave us a neck pillow, saying it was a gift. However, upon returning the car, they told us it was just for our use! We said that their colleague had mentioned it was a gift, and we had left it in the villa in Pattaya. Then he said his colleague meant it was for our use. What does 'gift' even mean? If it's for our use, just say so, don't say it's a gift! Also, I rented a 12-seater car, so why not give us 12 pillows to use! Clearly, they just want to make us pay extra. In the end, we had to trouble a friend in Pattaya to mail it back to the airport! I will never use this rental company again!
When I arrived at the counter, there was no one there. I had to wait for a full five minutes before someone returned to the desk. During the car exchange, I was packing my golf bag and didn't have a chance to put two newly bought umbrellas into the bag before they drove the car away without any notice. It wasn't until I got on the plane that I remembered the new umbrellas.
The rental system is very rigid and has many pitfalls. No matter when you pick up or return the car, if it's less than a full day, make sure to select 00:00 for pickup and 23:00 for return. Even though I paid for a whole day for just over 7 hours, they still charged me an extra hour. Overall, I ended up paying for 2 days for those 7 hours. The platform's customer service insisted their system is fine, stating that if you return the car early, you won't get any money back, but if you're an hour late, they'll charge you for a whole day. So, be mindful to add a few extra hours when selecting your return time, as you'll be paying for that time anyway.
The overcharge for extra hours is more expensive than the daily rate. They charged 5000 Baht to replace a small broken mirror, which typically costs only a few hundred. There was no explanation other than it being company policy. Only a Chinese owner would be this harsh.
Despite multiple experiences of picking up dirty cars, there's been no improvement. Therefore, I won't rent from yesaway anymore. Can you follow up on my case? I hope you can give me a satisfactory answer, otherwise, I will never rent from yesaway again.
