The process was smooth, the location was convenient, and the car was new, clean, and tidy. Make sure to familiarize yourself with the driving laws of the country in advance.
“We were glad to have use if a car while in Belgium.”
About Europcar:8.0/10
Not enough information was given about the process. I had to go back inside to pick up the key and more information about the operation of the car would have been helpful.
1. I had already purchased full insurance, but when picking up the car, the front desk insisted I pay for roadside assistance insurance, claiming it was mandatory. However, I've visited Belgium many times before and never needed it. When I asked if it was possible not to buy it, they said it was optional but warned that calling roadside assistance without it would cost more. In the end, I didn't purchase it.
2. From September 25 to 28, I parked the car in a lot for three days while traveling to Italy for business. When I got back, the battery was dead. My local Belgian colleague and I had to push luggage weighing dozens of kilograms twice to their car dealership and staff at the floor B0 service center, but they refused to help, claiming it wasn't their responsibility and offering no solutions. Even my Belgian colleague was shocked by their terrible attitude and service. If locals struggle with communication, imagine how helpless I felt as a foreigner!
3. Eventually, I called roadside assistance and waited an hour and a half for a technician to fix the battery. The issue was resolved without any additional charges as of today.
4. This car was mostly used for trips to and from the airport and was rarely driven. However, within a few days, it started leaking water. When I went grocery shopping, it left a puddle in the parking area. It was frustrating, but somehow the leaking stopped shortly after. Driving it remained nerve-wracking for a few days.
5. Overall, the car was in poor condition, and the dealership's service was terrible.
