When picking up the car, the counter staff told me that the vehicle had no damage or scratches, and any scratch smaller than 2.5 cm would not be recorded. I only checked the body at pick-up and did not pay attention to the wheels and tires. Upon return, the staff claimed there were scratches on the front right wheel and demanded compensation without measuring, simply taking a photo and charging 350 Swiss Francs for repair plus 90 Swiss Francs for labor. I refused to sign, but was told the charge would proceed regardless. I'm disputing this with Hertz customer service. 1. The pick-up staff's guidance was insufficient and potentially misleading regarding scratches under 2.5 cm. 2. The return staff did not measure the length and insisted on the charge. Their latest response is to measure and photograph after the next rental. How can I be sure the damage wasn't caused by the next renter? 3. I cannot ascertain if the damage was pre-existing or caused during my rental. 4. Hertz did not provide specific scratch definitions or compensation terms. There is no official documentation clarifying whether this scratch requires compensation or detailing the cost.
Hertz at the Swiss airport is a deceitful company. They gave me a good car, but imposed a huge penalty after use. I rented for 2 days, and the rental fee was only around 900 rubles, but the penalty was 5000 rubles for minor, nearly invisible issues, with no standardized comments. They charged my visa directly! Don’t rent a Hertz car in Europe anymore; they are completely deceitful and dishonest!
The X1 I rented didn’t come with a spare tire or a temporary parking warning sign. Aren’t these standard? Asking was useless as they simply don’t provide them.
I called customer service to see if out of courtesy they can allow to return the car two hours later, and they declined saying that anything above 30 min would be a whole day charge. I suggest to introduce an hourly charge at the time of return. Wouldn't affect their vehicle turn around as they have huge inventory. It would build good will.
I was told on pickup of the car I would not be able to use a Visa card for the deposit for the car. Only MasterCard was accepted unless I maxed out their insurance which was of no use for me and I was forced to as Visa was the only payment I have on my holiday. The staff directed me incorrectly to the car park to leave the airport with my 60kgs of luggage...... gigantic waste of time starting our trip in Switzerland. The Mazda CX-5 was the only good thing about the experience.
They didn't have the car we booked, but we got a slightly smaller one with free GPS and an extra driver. Also the return guy chased me down the street to give me my sunglasses back. So happy with our experience.
Switzerland truly is the pinnacle of human civilization. The entire process was completed in 10 minutes, and the experience was excellent. I booked a 3 series but got a free upgrade to a GLE. Compared to Italy, well...
It's hard to rate. I had a lot of luggage, so I specifically rented a Peugeot 3008. Upon arrival, I was told they provided a similar model, a small BMW. The trunk was extremely small. I requested a larger trunk but was told there was no car of the same size available, and I had to pay extra. I ended up paying 150 francs more for a Honda, which was quite disheartening.
Friendly and professional staff. Cars in good condition. Detailed documentation, including damage reports with pictures
About QEEQ:8.0/10
It would be very helpful if Qeeq offered more comprehensive online rental contract management. For example, the ability to request rental extensions online would be a great feature

About Hertz:8.0/10
Quick pick-up and return, charged a pre-authorization of 199 CHF, and an additional 99 CHF for an extra driver. The second day of renting, driving from Zurich to Milan, my luggage was stolen from the trunk. Overall experience was bad, especially since I had locked the car, but the items were still stolen without breaking the windows. Very puzzled.
