The car stunk like cigarette smoke when we picked it up. We don't smoke, we hate it. It was DISGUSTING.
The good news: The young lady who helped us when we picked up and dropped off the car is wonderfully helpful and nice. She went the extra mile to give us what we wanted. I am sorry I did not get her name (she is Asian and has a blonde/light streak in her dark hair), but she most definitely deserves a raise!
The rental company is easy to find. After completing the paperwork, they give you the key and parking spot number. You just pick up the car yourself from the parking lot, very convenient.
The service from Hertz was very good, but Americans are not very efficient. We waited for over half an hour to pick up the car, even though there were hardly any people ahead of us. The best part about Hertz cars is that they all come with Fastrak, so you can use the Fastrak lanes on toll bridges and pay later when you return the car. The QX80 we exchanged for was excellent, white, with no scratches, very new inside, and highly equipped. It even had built-in navigation and XM radio. We had four suitcases and bought three more, completely filling up the third-row seats when folded. Luckily, we changed cars. However, parking a large car was challenging since many parking spaces were quite small. Hertz's phone service was very quick, and they answered our questions accurately and promptly.
The car requested was not available.
After a lot of discussion with managers, we were eventually given a cabriolet as originally requested which was good.
Then halfway through our hire, the front wheel tyres required replacing. Hertz were very good in authorisation of this but we had to go a hundred mikes out of our way and a different route as originally planned to get new tyres put on. The car should have had new tyres from the beginning.
I felt that our safety had been compromised
