The service attitude at the AVIS Paris airport branch was terrible, terrible, terrible. In 2 years and 3 rentals, even with no one in line, the procedure took over 2 hours. Just think, we had already been on the road for 2 days and flying for over ten hours, we were exhausted. Additionally, the car was not what we reserved, and it was parked on the airport expressway, so we couldn't check the vehicle, familiarize ourselves with it, or install a GPS. We just had to drive away immediately. Deceptive practices, forcing unnecessary insurance, a tank of gas, and other services on us. After returning home, they deducted €35 per car from us for supposed violations we knew nothing about. It was a long appeal process, and Rent-A-Car helped us recover some of the losses. I hope Rent-A-Car can better communicate with their partners.
Extremely negative review. They forced us to pay for full insurance, otherwise, they wouldn't let us pick up the car. After a 10-hour flight, arriving late at night with an elderly and a baby, and it was raining outside, they made us wait for an hour until we paid for the full insurance to get the car. I've never encountered such an agent! I've driven in Europe at least 5 times, rented from Sixt in Norway, France, and Italy, and used QEEQ in Germany. For these four trips, I used the same Hong Kong license with basic insurance without any issues. But this time in Paris with Avis, the customer service claimed I needed to pay for full insurance because my license wasn’t an international one; otherwise, they wouldn’t let me pick up the car. After nearly an hour of negotiation and no other choices with my family waiting, I had to agree. My phone hadn't been activated in France yet, so I couldn't contact QEEQ. Later, we asked nearby rental companies Eurocar and Sixt, and they all said the same thing: an English translation on the driver's license is enough, no need for an international license. Clearly, Avis was scamming us to make more money under the guise of requiring an international license. Adding money means you can pick up the car, otherwise, you can't; what kind of policy is that? Moreover, the return location in Paris city center is very inconvenient. I will never use Avis again.
