The app initially showed a rental price of 380 AUD, but when I got there, they asked for 480 AUD, and with insurance, the total was 700 AUD. It's ridiculous. The rental car had a trunk full of rotten tomatoes—I have no idea why. The pickup truck used for car washing wasn't cleaned properly either. Inside the car, there were cigarette ash and a strong smell of smoke. Terrible experience!
The car key battery was low, and after visiting a tourist spot, the car wouldn't start. I had to call for assistance. Fortunately, it started again during the call, but I was afraid to turn it off halfway through. The next day, I bought a button battery for $15 and fixed it myself.
There was no mention of this during the booking. It wasn't until I saw the charge on my credit card statement that I found out about an extra fee of around 100 yuan. After 10 days of inquiry, the car rental company claimed it was a special location pickup fee. They couldn't explain what constitutes a special location. I picked up the car at the airport, which I guess is pretty special! It feels unfair, even though the amount isn’t much, it's still frustrating. Seems like I need to understand the rules better next time.
