You can walk to the counter of Thrifty - Melbourne Airport car hire.

The rental office is located on the ground level of the ParkRoyal Hotel, opposite Terminals T1, T2, and T3, behind the large Melbourne sign. If you arrive at Terminal T4, make your way outside to Terminal T3 to cross the road . Please proceed to the office to complete your rental contract.

Drop-off Instructions

When approaching the airport area, follow the road signs marked "Car Rental Returns." After passing through the center road traffic light, keep right and watch for overhead signs indicating "Car Rental Returns" at the entrance. Enter through the Car Rental Return car park entrance. They asked us to buy additional insurance and a full tank of fuel, but didn't clearly explain when we were signing and paying. We only found out from the credit card bill after returning home. Very frustrating.

There was no mention of this during the booking. It wasn't until I saw the charge on my credit card statement that I found out about an extra fee of around 100 yuan. After 10 days of inquiry, the car rental company claimed it was a special location pickup fee. They couldn't explain what constitutes a special location. I picked up the car at the airport, which I guess is pretty special! It feels unfair, even though the amount isn’t much, it's still frustrating. Seems like I need to understand the rules better next time.

There were issues with overcharging and unauthorized fees during both pick-up and drop-off. When picking up the car, they claimed we hadn't paid the one-way rental fee and demanded an immediate payment of AUD 230.52 to proceed. Half an hour after returning the car at Adelaide airport, an additional charge of AUD 34.16 was inexplicably made to our credit card.
